How do you get from Marrakech to a private camp in the Erg Chegaga with a family group?
From Marrakech, the helicopter takes 1 h 40 and lands on the helipad at the camp. By road it takes about 8 h 45 in the camp’s own 4x4s: 7 h 15 of road, then 1 h 30 of track over the last 60 kilometres, with the camp’s drivers staying with the group. A helicopter carries five or six passengers, so a group of twelve takes two aircraft, and many families put the oldest and the youngest guests in the air and the others on the road.

The flight leaves from Marrakech Menara, crosses the High Atlas and the Draa valley, and ends over the first dunes of the Erg Chegaga. The helicopter lands on the helipad at the camp, where the team is waiting with tea.
Each helicopter carries five or six passengers, so the number of aircraft follows the number of people who fly: two helicopters for a group of twelve. Luggage travels by 4x4, whichever way the guests arrive.

Drivers who stay. The camp’s own 4x4s and drivers take the group all the way and stay with it at the camp.
The pace. Many groups break the road with a night in Marrakech beforehand and reach the camp in the late afternoon.
Splitting a family group between the two
Many families split the arrival. The grandparents and the youngest children fly, and the middle generation drives through the Draa valley. A family of twelve might send five or six by helicopter, a single aircraft, and the others by road. Everyone reaches the camp with a story, and nobody arrives worn out.
