A Honeymoon
in the Sahara
Private tents. Candlelit dinners under the stars. Complete silence. The most intimate setting in all of Morocco.
Plan Your HoneymoonWhy the Desert
There is nothing in the world quite like a desert honeymoon
In Erg Chegaga, there are no hotel lobbies, no background music, no other couples at adjacent tables. There is your tent, the dunes, and a sky so dark that the stars become the only light source in any direction.
Most couples describe it as the most intense version of togetherness they have experienced — the silence strips away distraction and leaves you with each other, the landscape and a slow, deliberate pace that is impossible to rush.
Umnya Desert Camp is designed for exactly this. Eight private tents, a team that has prepared your arrival before you get here, and moments that require no planning on your part at all.
Your Honeymoon Moments
We design each one in advance so you arrive to find it ready
Private Arrival Welcome
Your tent is prepared and waiting before you arrive. Mint tea, dates and pastries served on your terrace as the afternoon light turns the dunes gold.
Candlelit Dinner in the Dunes
A table set in the open desert, lit by lanterns, with a three-course Moroccan meal and no other guests nearby. The sound is wind, and nothing else.
Sunrise Camel Trek, Just the Two of You
A private guide leads you and a pair of camels through the dunes before the rest of the world wakes up. First light on the Sahara, together.
Stargazing — Milky Way Overhead
After dinner, the telescopes come out. In Erg Chegaga — Bortle Class 1, the darkest designation — the sky performs in a way city dwellers have never seen.

"Our honeymoon at Umnya was the single best decision of our trip. Waking up in the Sahara together, completely alone, was something we could never have found in a hotel."

Morocco Honeymoon — The Full Picture
Erg Chegaga as part of a wider Morocco honeymoon itinerary
Most couples spend 7–14 nights in Morocco for a honeymoon. A common structure is Marrakech (2–3 nights) → a southern route through kasbahs and the Drâa Valley → Erg Chegaga at Umnya (2–3 nights) → return via Ouarzazate.
The overland journey to the camp is scenic and adds to the honeymoon narrative — you earn the silence and the stars. For those who prefer to arrive dramatically, a helicopter from Marrakech lands at the camp in 60 minutes.
We coordinate the logistics of your entire stay, including airport pickup in Marrakech, curated transfers and any stops along the route. You plan your wider Morocco itinerary; we ensure the desert chapter is flawless.
