Umnya Desert Camp ("we", "us", "our") operates the website umnyadesertcamp.com and a private luxury Berber camp in M'Hamid El Ghizlane, Drâa-Tafilalet, Morocco.

We collect personal data only when you voluntarily provide it or when required for our service:

  • Booking & inquiry data: name, email, phone number, preferred dates, number of guests, messages you send us.
  • Newsletter & guide downloads: email address and language preference.
  • Application data (The Clearing retreat): company, role, motivation text.
  • Technical data: IP address (anonymized), browser type, pages visited, referring URL, approximate geographic location (via Google Analytics).
  • Marketing attribution (with consent): UTM parameters, ad click IDs, retargeting identifiers from Meta (Facebook/Instagram) and LinkedIn.

3. Why we collect it

  • To respond to your inquiries and confirm reservations.
  • To send you the desert dispatch newsletter (only if you've subscribed — you can unsubscribe at any time).
  • To improve our website and understand visitor behavior (with your consent, via Google Analytics).
  • To deliver relevant advertising (with your consent, via Meta Pixel and LinkedIn Insight Tag).
  • To comply with legal obligations (tax records, anti-money-laundering checks for high-value bookings).

4. Legal basis (GDPR Article 6)

  • Contract performance — for processing bookings and inquiries.
  • Consent — for newsletter, marketing emails, and tracking cookies (you can withdraw consent anytime).
  • Legitimate interest — for essential analytics and fraud prevention.
  • Legal obligation — for tax and regulatory compliance.

5. Who we share data with

We never sell your data. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us operate:

  • Netlify (website hosting, USA — Standard Contractual Clauses)
  • Google Analytics 4 (traffic analytics, USA — IP anonymized)
  • Meta (Facebook/Instagram advertising, only after consent)
  • LinkedIn (B2B advertising, only after consent)
  • Brevo (email newsletter, EU-hosted, GDPR-compliant)
  • Resend (transactional email notifications)
  • Stripe (payment processing, PCI-DSS compliant)

We do not transfer data outside the EEA without appropriate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent).

6. How long we keep your data

  • Inquiry / booking data: 3 years after last contact (for follow-up and legal records).
  • Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe.
  • Analytics data: 14 months (Google Analytics default).
  • Accounting records: 10 years (legal requirement in Morocco and EU).
