Before we speak
How far in advance should we book a private celebration at Umnya Desert Camp? +
We recommend contacting us at least 6 to 8 weeks before your preferred dates for most celebrations. For marriage proposals and high-season dates (March to May, October to December), 3 to 4 months ahead is ideal. We sometimes accommodate shorter-notice requests; reach out and we will tell you honestly what is possible.
Can you organise a surprise marriage proposal in the Sahara? +
Yes, it is one of the most frequent requests we receive, and we are experienced in managing every logistical detail in complete secrecy. Your partner knows only that you are going to the desert. Everything else, the private dinner, the musicians, the floral decoration, the champagne, is in place before you arrive.
Is the camp accessible for larger groups? +
The camp accommodates up to 20 guests in full privatization mode. For groups of 5 or more, we recommend a full buy-out so your celebration is entirely private. The 50 km of piste from M'Hamid is accessible by 4×4 convoy or private helicopter; both experiences are spectacular in their own right.
What is included in a private celebration at Umnya? +
Every celebration is bespoke. The baseline always includes full camp privatization, all meals prepared by a private chef, accommodation in suite tents, guided desert activities, and 4×4 transfers from M'Hamid. Occasion-specific elements, musicians, floral decoration, champagne, photography, are added to your brief. We propose; you adjust until it is exactly right.
Do you work with external vendors such as photographers, musicians, florists? +
Yes. We coordinate all suppliers end-to-end: Berber musical ensembles, photographers and videographers, floral designers, private chefs with specialist menus, and wellness practitioners. You brief us on what the moment calls for; we manage every supplier relationship so you arrive to a completed scene.
Can you extend a Sahara celebration into a full Morocco itinerary? +
Absolutely. Many guests combine the Sahara stay with nights in a private Marrakech riad, an Atlas mountain lodge, or the Atlantic coast at Essaouira or Taghazout. We design the full circuit and coordinate every property and transfer. The desert is the centrepiece; Morocco provides the rest.
