Yoga at the edge
of the Sahara
Morning flow on the dunes. Restorative afternoons. Dinner under stars no city has ever touched. The desert strips away everything that is not essential.
Enquire NowWhy the Sahara
The silence itself becomes the practice
There is no mobile signal in the dune field. No road noise. No ambient hum of civilization. What replaces it is a silence so complete, so ancient, that the body responds before the mind can name what it is feeling. The nervous system softens. The breath slows. You arrive somewhere you did not know you had left.
Umnya Desert Camp sits in the Erg Chegaga, the most remote dune field in Morocco. The nearest paved road is a long drive away. The sky at night is Bortle Class 1, meaning zero light pollution. You can see the Milky Way so clearly it casts a faint shadow. This is not a backdrop for your retreat. It is a participant.
Sand requires constant micro-adjustment. A sun salutation on a dune teaches balance differently than any studio floor. Pranayama at dawn, when the air is cold and sharp and the first light turns the horizon gold, becomes something that goes beyond technique into direct experience.

Who this retreat is for
All levels, all reasons, one desert
Our wellness retreats welcome practitioners of all levels. Daily practitioners who need a reset. People who have been meaning to start for years and finally have a reason. Couples looking for shared stillness. Groups of friends ready for something genuinely different.
We offer open-enrollment retreats where individual travelers join a small group, and full-privatization retreats for couples, families, or groups who want the entire camp to themselves. We also support yoga teachers and wellness facilitators who want to bring their own group with a custom program.
No experience required. No particular fitness level required. Only a willingness to arrive, to slow down, and to let the desert do what it does.
How to reach us
Getting to Erg Chegaga
By Road from Marrakech
A scenic five-hour drive from Marrakech through the Draa Valley. The last sixty kilometers from M'Hamid are on piste and handled by our 4x4 transfer team. Many guests find the road journey itself a meaningful part of the transition into the desert.
By Helicopter from Marrakech
For guests who prefer a direct arrival, we arrange helicopter transfers from Marrakech that land at camp in under two hours. Seeing the Erg Chegaga from the air, a vast sea of dunes with no roads, no buildings, no human trace, is an unforgettable way to begin a retreat.
