Umnya is sixty kilometres past the last paved road in Erg Chegaga, the dune sea beyond the one most itineraries reach. The camp goes to one delegation at a time. For a group that has just sat through ten hours of continuing education, the absence of any phone signal turns out to be the point rather than the inconvenience. Sessions in the morning, the desert after, and a dinner nobody leaves early.
