What is there actually to do in the Sahara? +

The days are built from a handful of simple things: a camel trek at first light, sandboarding down the dunes of Erg Chegaga on a wooden board, 4x4 excursions out to remote oases, old ksars and abandoned villages, sunrise yoga on a private wooden deck, and a tagine workshop with the chef. Can you really see the Milky Way, and do you need equipment? +

Erg Chegaga has a Bortle 1 sky, the darkest grade on the scale. On a clear night the Milky Way is bright enough to cast a faint shadow, so nothing is needed to see it. Binoculars are worth packing if you already own a pair.

Do you sleep in a tent or outside under the stars? +

Both are possible. The camp has suite tents, and a simple bed can be made up in the open air for anyone who wants nothing between themselves and the sky. Either way the stars keep you company until dawn.

Is the Berber music an evening show put on for guests? +

No. The team plays traditional Berber music every evening at the fire, drums and chants. It is not a performance arranged for an audience, it is how the camp marks the end of a day spent together.

Is the food local, and can you learn to cook it? +

The kitchen cooks traditional Berber dishes with ingredients from the local markets of M'Hamid. A tagine workshop with the chef can be part of the stay, using the traditional techniques. Mint tea is served on the dunes in the last moments before sunset.
