Most CME travel puts a lecture room inside a hotel that happens to be somewhere warm. The delegates take the sessions, then take a call, then take another call. The location changes nothing.

The one venue feature no conference hotel can offer

Erg Chegaga has no mobile signal, because there is no tower within range. No road, no distraction, and nowhere else to be. Delegates attend because there is genuinely nothing competing for their attention. When your group takes the whole camp, it is yours alone: eight tent suites with private bathrooms, 2 to 18 guests and up to 20 with extra beds. Sessions run at first light on the sand, when the air is still cold. The rest of the day belongs to the desert.

Can a physician group run a CME retreat at the camp? +
Yes. A group can take the whole camp, 2 to 18 guests and up to 20 with extra beds in eight tent suites, and there is a covered majlis for sessions with a projector and flip charts, all on solar power. Accreditation itself sits with your own provider, and we supply whatever venue documentation they require.
Does the camp provide CME accreditation? +
No, and be wary of any venue that says it does. Accreditation depends on your provider, your specialty and your jurisdiction. What we can give you is the venue documentation, the session facilities, the hour by hour running order and an itemised written proposal, which is what an accrediting body actually asks for.
Can a group hold structured teaching sessions with no wifi at camp? +
Yes, and sessions are built to run offline: printed material, a projector and a screen on solar power. There is no coverage and no Wi-Fi at the camp. A phone signal can be found a short walk from camp, about twenty minutes there and back, for anyone who must be reachable. Groups who worry about this beforehand are the ones who mention it afterwards as the reason it worked.
What medical cover exists at the camp? +
The nearest hospital is at Zagora, about two and a half hours away by road. We provide the drive times and the contact chain in writing before you commit, and a medic can be held on site for your dates on request.
How many physicians can attend? +
Eight tent suites, each with a private bathroom. The camp takes 2 to 18 guests, and up to 20 with extra beds. Twenty is a firm ceiling.
How does the group reach the camp? +
8h45 from Marrakech in our own 4x4s with our own drivers, of which the last 1h30 is unpaved piste, and most groups break the drive with a night in Ouarzazate. Or 1h40 by helicopter from Marrakech Menara, five to six seats per rotation, landing at the camp. Many cohorts split the two on the same day.
What does a teaching day look like here? +
Sessions in the covered majlis in the morning, when the light is good and the temperature has not arrived. The flat middle hours belong to shade and rest, because the desert insists on it. Terrain in the late afternoon, then one long table at night. Half the day is deliberately unscheduled.
When can a CME group come? +
October to April. Days run roughly 18 to 28 degrees and nights from about 2 degrees in midwinter to 15 in the shoulder months. October, November, March and April give the longest comfortable daylight. The good weeks are committed eight to ten months ahead.
